International Food Safety Council

What is the
International Food
Safety Council?
The Council is a restaurant and foodservice industry coalition committed to food safety education. Formed in 1993 by the National Restaurant Association and its Educational Foundation, the Council includes restaurateurs and foodservice operators, manufacturers and suppliers from all segments of the foodservice industry.

As the voice of the restaurant and foodservice industry on food safety education and training issues, the Council is working with government, industry and consumer organizations to enhance farm-to-table food safety. A key initiative is education, both for restaurant and foodservice workers and for the public.

Who's eligible
to participate
in the Council?
Foodservice professionals who are trained and certified in the ServSafe® food safety program are eligible to participate in the Council. Participants receive the Council seal to display in their establishments to show customers that they are trained in safe food preparation and are committed to serving safe food. Contact us at 800/456-0111 for more information on participating.

The International Food Safety Council and National Food Safety Education Month are supported by leading restaurant and industry suppliers and associations.
