(Chicago) The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) today announced the start of its new Conserve Scholarship, in which students take a quiz on environmental sustainability drawn from information found on the National Restaurant Association's Conserve: Solutions for Sustainability initiative Web site, Conserve.Restaurant.org. Ten $500 scholarships will be awarded to participating college students and the scholarship quiz is open through April 26.

Participants register with the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation (CKSF) and compete for scholarship money by taking online multiple choice quizzes at the CKSF website. At the end of the scholarship contest, the top 10 students with the highest scores win the scholarship awards.

"Environmental sustainability is an important and growing issue in our industry and in the world at large, and incorporating it into educational programs for future industry professionals ensures we will move the industry in the right direction," said National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation Scholarship Committee Chair Kevan Johnston. "We wish participating students good luck on the NRAEF Conserve Scholarship quiz and hope that it's fun in addition to educational. I also highly recommend that all restaurant and hospitality students bookmark Conserve.Restaurant.org and use it as an educational tool throughout their college careers."

Conserve's web site (conserve.restaurant.org) serves as a portal to vital resources that help foodservice operators embark and continue to progress on their own sustainability journey, providing tips, tools and resources to assist restaurant and foodservice operators. Conserve offers solutions on how to "go green" at little or no expense. In fact, many of the tips help operators save money and enhance their financial bottom line while reducing their carbon footprint.
